CADAVER LAB UPDATE
FHSU offers students a range of on-campus resources and hands-on learning opportunities, including its Cadaver Lab in Albertson Hall. However, the once-great lab has deteriorated into a space with inoperable drains, plumbing, and outdated equipment. We’re requesting support that will allow FHSU to restore the space – installing improved equipment and leading technology to benefit our students greatly. Various educational disciplines utilize and tour the on-campus cadaver lab, including students studying biology, human anatomy, health and human performance, allied health, chemistry, and nursing. As part of this cadaver lab project, FHSU plans to purchase two Anatomage tables to simulate and visualize human cadaver dissections. These tables are being adopted by many of the world’s leading medical schools and institutions as they offer the most technologically advanced 3D anatomy visualization. Fort Hays State University also looks to replace unsanitary wood cabinetry with stainless steel, install new cadaver tables, restore drain function and plumbing, and install lighting, cameras, and monitors to allow discoveries at one table to be easily visualized throughout the room. Upgrades will significantly improve the quality of education these aspiring professionals will receive and enable digital measurements to be collected for cadaveric research purposes. Our students deserve better. We need a space that we’re proud of and will also help recruit aspiring medical professionals to FHSU.
